I've been thinking about !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and saving some money in the process. I leased the 135is thinking it would be my only car, then !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Since the Jeep covers my winter/practical vehicle needs, I want to feel the wind in my face. In order to get out of my 135is lease, I have a couple options:

1. Sell it (or trade it in to a dealer) then immediately give $38,278.60 to BMW Financial Services.

2. Transfer the lease to someone else.

I can get a loan from my credit union for 2.79% for 60 months, even on older cars. I'd like to save $150/month on car payment & insurance compared to the 135is. To do that, I want to keep my convertible budget at $20k tops. An older Boxster S is my most likely move. I also like C5 Corvettes but it seems like decent ones aren't quite as cheap as I want.

That said, I'm in Madison, WI where there are hardly ever any decently interesting cars to check out. So even though it was listed at $35k, I recently !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The dealer came back to me today and offered $34k for my 135is. Doesn't exactly help with the money saving.

So....I'm going to work on either selling the car myself or getting someone else to pick up the lease. Then it's Boxster shopping time. Or maybe something that'll !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

How much does a 1 series cost? That trade in value seemed high to me. Then again, I drive a thousand dollar car so I really have no idea about nicer things.

if the 135is is a 6MT sell it on a BMW forum you'll get rid of it quickly.

Try one of those lease trading websites.

You could get an E46 M3 vert under $20k EASY.

It's a DCT but I'll try the forums anyway.

The lease trading sites are interesting but I'm on the fence with them since they charge a membership fee and I'm in a smaller market so I'm not local to the majority of shoppers on there.

Sticker price when I got it was $49k and change. Price for purposes of the lease was more like $44k after discount and some incentives.

That $38,278.60 number is the payoff amount.

I do like the Z4 M. If I got one, it'd probably run more like $25k. Not outside the realm of possibility, but I'm kinda thinking in terms of trying to be frugal(ish) with having 2 vehicles for no particularly good reason other than my own entertainment.

Whereas if I got an older Boxster S, I could go down to like $15-18k easily. There are Z4s in that range as well, but I don't like them so much. I've driven either a 2.5i or 3.0i (can't remember which) without the sport package and it was kinda meh. I also tried a 3.0si with the sport package and that was pretty alright.

You do get some really good older Boxters, I drove one after I got the BMW and liked it instantly, the gearbox felt a little better and when the spoiler kicks in its feels awesome. Make sure you get a proper PPI before you buy it. Some of the earlier ones were prone to IMS failures, and repair meant replacing the engine. But there are companies around who can put in a new IMS bearing that works better. And I completely agree about the normal Z4s they aren't as good. You could look at a Vette?

Lucky you, looks like DCT is just as popular as manual (at least in 335is). I can help spread the word on E90post if you'd like.

I think you'll make more money going private. Dealers loooove low balling German cars.
